About the Shrine
A hand-built anime portal since 2002, rebuilt for the modern web without bulldozing the past.
Chuck's Anime Shrine started in 2002 as a hand-built anime portal — fan pages, Flash intros, forums, blogs, an anime figure shop, and the Anime.FM podcast. It grew through the golden age of the personal web, when sites were built one HTML page at a time and every page had a personality.
In 2026 the shrine was reborn on a modern stack. Instead of losing the past, the entire original site — every page, image, and Flash file from 2002–2014 — is preserved exactly as it was in The Original Site.
Think of the modern site as an online museum: each wing houses a different part of the shrine's story, and they all connect back to the same passion for anime and otaku culture. The rebuild is powered by ShrineTech, a studio dedicated to preserving and reviving legacy fan sites.
Shrine timeline
- 2002
Origins
Chuck's Anime Shrine goes online as a hand-built anime portal — fan pages, Flash intros, forums, blogs, a figure shop, and early audio experiments.
- 2007
Figure shop rises
Chuck's Anime Shrine becomes one of the first major anime-figure distributors on the US East Coast, stocking Nendoroids, figmas, scale figures, and more until 2013.
- 2008
Anime.FM joins the shrine
The shrine acquires Anime.FM and relaunches it as an anime music station and podcast hub, adding a new audio wing to the collection.
- 2014
The freeze
Updates slow and the original site is preserved in place — figures, prices, posts, and Flash files all left exactly as they were.
- 2026
Rebirth
The shrine is rebuilt on a modern stack. Instead of replacing the past, every page from 2002–2014 is preserved as The Original Site while new wings open for blog, shop, and Anime.FM.
